Established in 2023, Meowhaus is the newest cat boarding facility in Brunswick, Melbourne. I delivered an efficient identity ahead of launch that ensured Meowhaus was ready to roll when doors opened to the first customer. The brief was super simple: include a cat, nothing generic, nothing cute, and it mustn’t look like a vet clinic.

The Idea

Because Brunswick is home to a few well-established catteries, it was important that Meowhaus arrive looking as fully-formed as possible to appear credibile. With little to no advertising spend, the logo would be the only signifier so it had to work extra hard to cut through and impress. Informed by a competitor audit and drawing insight from the owner’s personality and preferences, I developed an identity that abandons the common visual trappings preferred by local catteries and vet clinics.

Chris took the most sparsely-considered brief and turned it into the branding of our dreams. He understood what we were looking to achieve even though I struggled to articulate it. He delivered above and beyond and showed genuine commitment to the project.

The Impact

Meowhaus launched successfully, on time, and managed to be fully booked within six months. Feedback from customers (and passers-by) has been overwhelmingly positive and Meowhaus has since launched an online store to sell branded merch.
